The operator of the biogas upgrading plant in the village Malstedt, Lower Saxony, is an association of different public utilities. This is a project of the first German Biogas Pool. It allows the public utilities a secured supply of biomethane without producing raw biogas on their own. This task is carried out by local farmers with the neighbouring biogas plant.
The gas upgrading plant can process 700 Nm3/h raw biogas per hour. The total capacity of the biogas plant is equal to an output of 2.65MWel.
Thanks to the comprehensive heat concept, the biogas plant is an exemplary project: the exhaust heat of a total of 5 CHPs does not only supply the gas upgrading plant, but also a major part of private households of the community as well as two farms.
